Within the fiercely competitive realm of video games, it's typical for fresh competitors to vanish as swiftly as they burst on to the landscape.
However Battlefield 6 is striving to change that.
Here comes the latest entry in a long-standing military shooter line often described as a more authentic response to the CoD series.
This game has not quite been able to rival its best-known opponent in terms of units sold or gamers, but there are signs the recent entry could narrow the difference.
A preview weekend allowing players a chance to test the game earlier this year achieved milestones, and the excitement heading into its debut has been huge.
However the project is still a major venture for company the gaming giant, which has reportedly spent hundreds of millions of dollars making it.
Our team has spoken to a number of the makers to learn how they expect it will pay off.
Development Crew and Studio Collaboration
A total of four teams are creating the title under the Battlefield Studios umbrella.
They include original series producer Dice, based in Europe, California's Motive Studios and the Canadian studio in Canada.
One more, the Guildford team, is located in the UK.
Rebecka Coutaz is the studio head of the pair of EU-based teams, and shares with us that, in regards of what it's offering players, "this new game is probably unbeatable."
Building On Past Mistakes
The new release follows the release of the advanced Battlefield 2042, published four years ago to a negative reception it struggled to recover from.
"It's likely that we couldn't create and produce Battlefield 6 lacking the learnings we had in Battlefield 2042," the manager tells the press.
Among those lessons was to engage players involved soon, and the studio initiated invite-only player testing sessions not long ago.
The "feedback was explosively positive," says she.
Another absent ingredient from the last game was a story mode, which has been reintroduced for this release.
Criterion creative lead the design director is the individual responsible for "making sure those missions are as entertaining and engaging as possible for the audience."
In spite of claims that the scope of the title had put a strain on the various teams partnering across continents to develop the title, Fas is upbeat about the endeavor.
"Partnering with different cultures, varied experiences, it's a really interesting setting to be part of on a regular basis," he shares.
"This entire method has been a fresh take but also very thrilling because we are partnering with individuals from all over the world."
Concerning the expectation on the team, he comments: "We feel demand but also it's exciting.
"We're dealing with a large undertaking. It's arguably the biggest that the majority of the team have before been involved in."
Emerging Developer Adds Fresh Perspective
That's definitely true of no less than an individual staff, VFX specialist the artist.
The recent hire makes the atmospheric effects that shape the atmosphere, tone, and narrative of the single-player campaign.
Vlad undertook an work placement at the studio prior to securing a job at the company, and presently is employed part-time while completing his digital arts studies at his school.
He states he's a dedicated enthusiast of the Battlefield series, and recalls experiencing the earlier title of the franchise at a pal's home when he was in his youth.
