Iran Reports Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Military Operations.

Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with notable success and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted debris landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
