In the wake of torrential rains that resulted in floodwaters across areas in the city, Los Angeles is now grappling with unseasonably warm weather for late February.

On Friday midday, the temperature reached 91°F (33°C) in central LA, as reported by weather officials. This breaks the previous daily record for this date, which was 88°F (31°C) and was established in 2025.
"Very warm conditions" were noted on official maps for the region.
Public Health Alerts
Authorities issued a warning that Friday's conditions posed an "increased danger for heat illness" for those at risk. Their guidance included:
- Staying hydrated.
- Reducing outdoor activities during the afternoon hours of the day.
- Never leaving kids or animals unattended in a car.
A Dramatic Shift
This sharp rise in temperature arrives just after a massive storm system that battered the area recently. That storm delivered high winds, thunderstorms, and significant snowfall to the mountains, causing mudslide risks for many residents.

Forecasters predict some relief is expected. Readings were predicted to drop to around sixty-one degrees Fahrenheit in central Los Angeles by Friday night.
Additional areas that reached 90°F featured Woodland Hills, Long Beach, and Burbank. Additionally, Oxnard, Westwood, Camarillo, and Santa Maria were projected to reach the upper eighties.
In the coming days, downtown LA can see temperatures in the eighties, with a further cooldown likely for the week ahead.
