Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the previous five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the points lead from his teammate by just one point after his victory in Mexico City recently, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before sprint qualifying set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind behind Norris, was classified in 17th position as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, though minor, when he rotated at corner four during the early running.
The Japanese lost control over the exit kerbs before rotating through the gravel trap, and was lucky to escape with just a light touch of the fence.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho turn approaching the final bend on to the main straight.
The veteran finished practice in P19, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619secs behind Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
