The Two Fatalities Identified in the Providence Campus Incident as Authorities Persist in Manhunt for Gunman.

Both young individuals who lost their lives in Saturday’s tragic incident in Providence were honored at the start of the week – amid a widespread hunt for their shooter carried on following the freeing by Rhode Island officials of the only individual of interest in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was called “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, according to the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which honored her memory at a service on Sunday.

She served as vice-president of Brown’s chapter of College Republicans of America, the group said. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also expressed sympathies online, saying in part: “Words cannot express. Thinking of her family and friends, particularly her mother and father.”

An International Student

The second fatality was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the prestigious university, family members said.

The victim's identification was officially acknowledged by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He had big dreams of entering the field of neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sibling Samira said in a online post.

What Happened

Nine more persons were injured in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s university in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Law enforcement reported on Sunday evening that a 24-year-man detained in a raid at a hotel about approximately 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was being released.

“There is a killer at large,” declared Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you need to change course and pursue a different angle, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last approximately one day.”

Ongoing Concerns

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “We know that this is likely to cause fresh anxiety for our public”.

The gunman opened fire inside a classroom in the building on over the weekend, shooting over four dozen bullets from a handgun, a law enforcement official reported to the news agency.

Law enforcement that entered the lodging recovered two handguns and two ammunition clips when the suspect was detained, the news agency reported.

The Wounded Victims

Of the nine hurt, a single scholar was allowed to go home, stated Brown’s president, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in grave but unchanging health, and another was critically ill, officials reported on Sunday.
