The United Kingdom is set to progress with using the total value of seized Russian assets to support Ukraine's defense operations, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a shared declaration, the officials of the UK, France, and Germany asserted that this joint measure would heighten pressure on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and compel Russia to come to the table.

They clarified that the decision would be executed in close cooperation with the US.

UK sanctions have immobilized more than £25bn of Russia's resources since Moscow initiated its comprehensive attack against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. However, up to this point, money allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russia's funds had exclusively been sourced from profits and interest earned on them.

Sir Keir told President Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, France, and Germany were united in their desire to advance efforts toward using the complete amount of the frozen Russia's state holdings to halt hostilities.

He noted that further measures over the next period would apply more pressure on Moscow.

This statement comes after European Union leaders gathered in the Danish capital previously to debate utilizing frozen Russian assets for a €140bn credit to the Ukrainian nation.

Recently, US President Donald Trump called on G7 allies to confiscate or utilize immobilized Russia's holdings, as reported by media sources.

The worth of immobilized Russian assets in the EU is assessed to be almost €211bn.

President Zelensky calls on UK's Sir Keir Starmer to participate in the PURL program

The Russian government carried out widespread missile and drone strikes across the Ukrainian territory on recently, causing blackouts in many areas of Ukraine's capital, the city, and multiple additional areas.

A pair of individuals were killed and no fewer than 20 people were hurt in the assault, Ukrainian officials stated.

In a post on X after the strike, Zelensky wrote that the premeditated assault targeted public and utility structures.

"What's needed is not empty words but concrete steps - from the US, EU, and the G7 - in delivering air defence systems and applying penalties," he wrote.

"Every sanction decision undermines Moscow's military apparatus," Zelensky wrote, in a separate post.

Additionally that day, Zelensky informed media outlets he would urge Sir Keir to participate in the PURL program, under which alliance members purchase military equipment from the America to provide to the Ukrainian forces.

While commending the UK's consistent assistance for Ukraine, he said it should indicate firmly that it would take part in the system, as well as enforce additional sanctions on Russia.
