US Military Conducts Lethal Attack in Eastern Pacific, Resulting in 4 Fatalities

According to a senior military spokesperson, the American military carried out a lethal strike on a vessel in the eastern Pacific, killing four individuals.

“A US joint task force carried out a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel operated by a terrorist group in international waters. Intelligence verified the vessel was transiting along a known narco-trafficking route and was engaged in illicit drug transport. All four male narco-terrorists were eliminated, and no American forces were injured.”

Context and Prior Strikes

This announcement follows a day after a declaration regarding a blockade of all targeted oil tankers to and from Venezuela. That statement on online platforms, the American leader alleged Venezuela of using oil revenues to fund narcotics smuggling and criminal activities, pledging to escalate the military buildup.

Only on the previous day, the Pentagon stated it had conducted strikes on three boats suspected of trafficking drugs in the Pacific, killing eight people. Beginning on 2 September, more than 20 strikes have resulted in the deaths of at least 99 individuals, most off the coast of Venezuela.

Government Justifies Actions Amidst Scrutiny

The government has encountered increasing demands to release video of a 2 September vessel attack. However, officials have refused to do so. The administration has defended its campaign as a success, arguing it has prevented drugs from entering US shores and has pushed back on concerns that it is exceeding the limits of lawful warfare.

While the administration has stated the campaign is about stopping drugs destined for the US, remarks from a senior aide appeared to confirm a wider geopolitical aim. In a recent interview, the chief of staff said the president “wants to keep on blowing boats up until the Venezuelan president surrenders or concedes.”

This suggests the military campaign may be linked to a push to remove Venezuela's current government.
